The Brown Falcon Falco berigora – common and lumbering compared to its close relative F.subniger, but a handsome raptor nonetheless.
The Black Falcon Falco subniger – this swift and powerful predator of birds is nowhere common, so always a sight to behold.
Brown Falcon, Moolort Plains, 23rd June 2013.
Note the prominent barring, especially on the primary wing feathers.
Black Falcon perched, Clarke Lane at Joyce’s Creek.
The other half of the Black Falcon pair.
Note the lack of barring on the primaries and that long tail.
I vote for brown – beautiful wing patterns ….
And stunning photos again – thanks
Chris
Really getting some good in-flight shots from the new lens Geoff.
Thanks Patrick … the 7D is on its way too.
