Spring Hill and the Mia Mia

I have been visiting this area [location in Google Maps] for a while now in the hope of seeing the elusive Crested Bellbird which has been reported here. I finally saw my first pair of Bellbirds on the 5th January 2010. The list below is by no means comprehensive but just provides a snapshot of some of the birds around during each season.

Winter 2012: Yellow-tufted Honeyeater, White-naped Honeyeater, Black-chinned Honeyeater, Buff-rumped Thornbill, Red Wattlebird, Painted Honeyeater (calling 24/6), Brown-headed Honeyeater, Crested Bellbird, Eastern Rosella, Crimson Rosella, Little Lorikeet, Purple-crowned Lorikeet, Musk Lorikeet, Spotted Quail-thrush (27/6), White-eared Honeyeater, Golden Whistler, Eastern Yellow Robin, Weebill, Superb Fairy-wren, Willie Wagtail, Superb Fairy-wren, Painted Button-quail, Brown Goshawk. – to 29th June.

* NB – Fuscous Honeyeaters notabe by their absence over winter.

Autumn 2012: Little Lorikeet, Purple-crowned Lorikeet, Chestnut-rumped Heath-wren, Musk Lorikeet, Swift Parrot, Crested Bellbird, Yellow-faced Honeyeater, Yellow-tufted Honeyeater, Fuscous Honeyeater, Black-chinned Honeyeater, Brown-headed Honeyeater, White-naped Honeyeater, Red Wattlebird, Eastern Rosella, Crimson Rosella, Peaceful Dove, Common Bronzewing, Tawny Frogmouth, Golden Whistler, Scarlet Robin, White-winged Chough, Australian Magpie.
