Three of each

Nothing terribly original here … but these two species have been lining up in front of the camera in recent days, demanding to be seen!

  1. Hi Geoff,  Me again! Apologies if I’m a bit annoying but I’m fascinated by your identification of male/female birds and would like to better understand what to look for. Can you please consider adding a hint or two of the areas to look for M-F differences so viewers of your images can learn to see the differences for themselves when out there observing/photographing birds. Of course I know I can refer to a bird book for the information but for me a clue or two in brackets would have me reaching for my glasses to see if I can also see the differences. I also realise that you need to have pics of BOTH for the above to work 🙂 Anyhow, thanks for “listening” if you have managed to read this far without hitting Delete ! Cheers, Peter0491164722

    Hi Geoff,
How do you tell the different sexes between male and female Nankeen Kestrels?

What a pretty little bird is the jacks winter. Really lovely. Nothing wrong with the kestrels
either. Yesterday I had mum dad and kid brown falcon or hawk come in for some chicken
Drumstick although I noticed mum feeding some mince steak I had put out for the magpies.
Sorry I don’t have a camera. Sue woodend north

    Stunning none the less

  5. I have indian minors camping in a shed, well did have. Feeding the horses during dusk, heard a racket at the shed & out soared a hawk. Couldn’t see what type and didn’t want to get too close as I would like the hawk to stay
