Simply striking!

This immature Crimson Rosella is one of a number paying regular visits to our front yard bird bath.

The young birds look quite different to the adults – the mix of olive-green with touches of sky-blue male for a stunning sight on a sunny winters day. The juveniles are predominantly green, transitioning gradually to the adult plumage over two years.

What a beautiful range of colours in your photos! A blur when the birds are in flight. Lovely shots, Geoff.

  2. ‘Simply Striking’ was an apt title for this blog Geoff. The shots give one a view all around. What a delicate but striking colour range. As usual your photography inspires.

  3. Thanks Geoff for those great photos.
The young rosellas visit our garden regularly but I haven’t had the opportunity to look at them in such detail as your photos have allowed.
