Poking around at the river

I’m pleased to report that the Loddon River is still flowing after a season of soaking rains. The moisture has provided a flush of growth – with Water Plantain and Water Ribbons flourishing, while one of my favourites, the River Bottlebrush is covered in pale yellow blooms.

This young Grey Shrike-thrush almost sat on the camera as I sat quietly and watched it hunting for a meal.

  1. Lovely, especially after the hot weather we’ve had!
