Two plus two

I’m pleased to report that the Sacred Kingfisher nest I’ve been observing over the past few weeks has produced not one, but two young kingfishers.

The juveniles, distinguished by a ruddier complexion than the parents, were seen on Boxing Day evening, downstream of the nest site. Their harsh begging calls complemented the lovely trills of a pair of Rainbow Bee-eaters tending a nearby tunnel.

  1. Terrific shots, the last one is my favourite!

  2. Oh, how lucky of you to see such beautiful birds; I’d love to see them but I’m happy just to see those that come into my coastal neighbourhood in Sydney. Thanks for all you share, I enjoy it immensely.
