For the past few weeks Mistletobirds have been singing incessantly around the neighbourhood.
A male has staked out a territory in the churchyard next door and the female has commenced nest-building. My experience is that the males don’t do much of the work although I did note a couple of visits which mainly seemed to be for inspection purposes rather than anything constructive! The suspended nest is extraordinary – a beautifully woven purse made from wool, fine grass, cobwebs and wattle flowers. I hope this one is successful.
