Magpies commence nest building

It’s mid-winter and our local Australian Magpies are busy building a nest.

This year their chosen location is high up in an elm tree opposite the Newstead Police Station.

  1. Funny you say that. Last Friday observed south of Kyabram, to us a Wedge-tail Eagle carrying a stick. Presumably for a nest. must check it out next time we are travelling that way again.

    Ravens began building using stringy bark from our woodheap [Clarke Lane] about a week ago… Nest is in the Redgums west of the bridge approach & east of Daylesford turnoff…
