In amazing technicolour

Many first-time visitors to Australia often comment on the amazing colours of our birds, especially the parrots. The Eastern Rosella is surely one of the most spectacular – we have perhaps grown blasé from its ubiquity – everywhere from home gardens to country woodlands and even cans of soup!

  1. Yes, Eastern Rosellas are brilliant birds. A friend here in Bendigo has a nesting box in her front garden and a pair nest there each year. The box has a tiny camera in its roof, so she can sit in her lounge and watch the hatching and development of the young ones via her tv set. Fascinating! The film is black and white, unfortunately. Such ugly hatchlings – but oh, how they change.
