A sigh of relief and a gentle flow

Last week’s downpour has generated a modest flow in the Loddon, gradually filling all the pools in the section between the Muckleford Creek confluence and downstream of the highway bridge. I suspect it hasn’t made it all the way to Cairn Curran as yet. You can almost hear the land sighing with relief!

  1. Aaaah! Sure has been sighing with relief through the riparian zones with steady flows through Happy Valley- Forest Creek, Barkers Creek and Campbells Creek

Barkers Creek is starting to stop flowing through Castlemaine Botanic Gardens, I noticed last night, though…

  2. Beautiful to see the creeks flowing again, but I suspect you got much more than we did with only 12.5mm. The Axe Creek appears to be no different at it’s junction with the Campaspe, I believe that some places close by received much more rain.

    • Hi Marlene, it’s been a fluky summer with rain – this lot has been the only decent dump over the past two months. The storm clouds just kept dividing as they approached Newstead every other time!
      Cheers, Geoff

Wonderful to see the dear old Loddon stitched together again. I had returned to my home town recently and was again saddened to see only puddles. Always worrying for the wildlife and the platypus I saw as a child.

  4. Love the Loddon shots. It looks to have more water than I would have expected. The Loddon river was such an important part of our lives at Newstead.
