Almost ready to fly

Over the past few weeks we’ve been following the development of this Mistletoebird family with great interest. The young are now almost fully-grown and I anticipate may have fledged over the weekend. If not it will only be a day or two. It’s been a privilege to be able to see up close, such beautiful and ecologically important birds.

  1. Gorgeous! Delightful! Made my day! I was feeling a bit depressed after listening to news from overseas, and now these beautiful little creatures lifted my spirits., and your comment about how the mistletoe birds are important to our ecology made me think. Thanks for these wonderful shots. John from Otways Vic.

  2. Beautiful pics Geoff, is that Sweet Briar or a garden rose?

  3. Hi Karl – it’s a climbing rose of the garden variety … I think!
    Cheers, geoff
