Chasing rainbows

They’re back!

A burst of worryingly hot early October weather, with strong northerly winds has hastened the Spring arrival of Rainbow Bee-eaters. A single bird was seen this evening over the Newstead Cemetery, along with numerous Fairy Martins, some White-backed Swallows and Welcome Swallows. Calls from a number of other Rainbowbirds could be heard at a distance.
