Perfect pair

Be alert … but not alarmed.

It’s Masked Lapwing nesting season again. Also known as the Spur-winged Plover, there are a number of breeding pairs around town – this pair has chosen a nice spot in the middle of the Memorial Park (opposite the Railway Hotel and the new Railway Station Arts Hub). The adults are wonderful parents, as anyone who ventures close by will quickly discover!

  1. At least there’s some semblance of a nest. Bush Stone-Curlews (aka Bush Thick-Knees) don’t even go to that much effort!
