Keeping warm in winter

Cold days but birds still need to keep warm.

For raptors this means a constant search for prey to keep their fuel levels up. At such times they are often quite tolerant of humans. This Black-shouldered Kite virtually let me stand underneath as it hovered in search of a mouse or two. The bird was only ten metres above my head!
