Two jewels in the garden

Two local residents can be observed regularly in our garden. Yellow-rumped Thornbills move around the neighbourhood in small flocks – the flash of yellow from their rumps is especially lovely during autumn. Spotted Pardalotes can be found in town and country – I hadn’t noticed them over summer but this male has been a regular over recent weeks.

  1. Ray Wallace (local historian and bird lover) romantically calls the spotted pardalots ‘diamond twitters’. So apt.
