A splash of autumn colour

Last weekend I spotted my first Flame Robin for the season, out on the Moolort Plains.

This prompted me to visit one of their favourite local haunts – Punt Road on the outskirts of Newstead. Sure enough a lone, early arriving male was spotted – providing a lovely splash of autumn colour.

Caught in the act!

The open country around the Newstead Racecourse and adjacent areas is always good for birds.

  1. I’m just doing some autumn drawings at the moment (of leaves and fruit and things) but your lovely little red bird on the rusted barb wire is a wonderful lesson in colour – generous as always Geoff sharing these small portraits with us.
