Buff and scarlet

A brief visit yesterday to Fence Track on the southern edge of the Muckleford bush. I was looking, forlornly as it turned out, for rosettes of autumn orchids. Not to worry – two woodland favourites appeared to make the trip worthwhile.

BRT1

Buff-rumped Thornbill, Fence Track, 16th March 2015.

BRT2

Note the pale iris – a key ID feature in this woodland specialist.

SR1

Male Scarlet Robin, Fence Track, 16th March 2015.

SR2

A bright sight on a dull day.

  1. Great shots Geoff.

  2. Lovely photos. So great to see this diversity of birdlife in the central Victoria. In the city you could be mistaken for thinking it all stops with the common myna!

    • Thanks Julia – unfortunately we have Indian Mynahs up here as well … we are on a mission to change that though.
      Cheers, geoff
