The little and the great

Of the four species of cormorant frequenting Cairn Curran Reservoir, the two pictured below are by far the most numerous.

Both the Little Black and Great Cormorants can be seen feeding on the lake at the moment. Little Black Cormorants form large flocks that will feed and roost together, while Great Cormorants are usually solitary though occasionally seen with their smaller relatives.
