Pigeon portraits

Here is a selection of Common Bronzewing portraits, captured yesterday in the front garden. Until now I’d never full appreciated how this species displays a small crest when calling. The head bobs forward as the bird vocalises, temporarily revealing the beautiful crest.

Another view of the male – this time displaying the incredible wing colours.

Female Common Bronzewing.

The male looking quizzical.

The male again, this time showing off the crest.
