This evening at the lake

We’ve had a sou’wester blowing for a week now – I’m struggling to remember a summer this cool. I guess we should be thankful.

Terns love a bit of breeze and I had some fun this evening watching a flock of Whiskered Terns feeding along the Joyce’s Creek arm at Cairn Curran. For more than an hour the group of six flew a repeating pattern up and down the shoreline, pausing now and then to skim food from the surface of to make a bullet-like dive in search of a fish.
