Bee-eaters breeding again

While the Rainbow Bee-eaters have been back for a while now, arriving in late October, they have been a little tardy getting down to the business of nesting. Most years they are sitting on eggs in mid-November, but this season they seem to be running late – perhaps because its been so dry. I finally caught up with one of the Newstead Cemetery pairs visiting a tunnel last evening. It will be interesting as always to follow their progress.
