Feasting on elms

It’s not just the rosellas taking a liking to our local elms. As the buds start to swell, then burst, they make a tasty snack for lorikeets, such as this Musk Lorikeet. I can recall once seeing all four species of local lorikeets – Rainbow, Musk, Purple-crowned and Little – feeding in a single elm in our street.

  1. Interesting – we often have the endangered Superb Parrots in our backyard in Canberra feasting on Chinese Elm
