Peregrine encounter

Watching our fastest raptor, the Peregrine Falcon, is always a privilege. They are the most splendid of birds.

For the past couple of years I’ve kept a watchful eye on a local breeding pair. It’s wonderful to see them back on the breeding ground again this season.

Peregrine Falcon (male) – Newstead area, 4th August 2014.

A sight to gladden the heart of any birdwatcher!

The female on a level glide into the nest tree.

Another close up view of the male Peregrine.

The female is larger and of rustier colour underneath.
