Natural puzzle #15

Spotted late this afternoon near Spring Hill Track.

Any thoughts?

Clue: I had to look skyward!

Well done … it is indeed the remarkable nest of the White-winged Chough. There is every chance it will be renovated again this year for spring breeding.

    Is it a chough’s nest ?

  2. Gosh Lynette, it’s hard to see what kind of thing it is at all, but when this post first came through, the only thing I could think of was “offcuts” so to speak of a chough’s nest, i.e. wet clay that somehow didn’t adhere to the nest being constructed and fell randomly to the ground. Glad to see some support!

Is it tree bark… melaleuca perhaps?
