Thanks to a Brown Falcon

I have been encouraged … or at least not discouraged to continue the theme of raptors in flight. This latest instalment comes courtesy of a co-operative Brown Falcon Falco berigora, spotted on the eastern edge of the Moolort Plains, near Joyces Creek. Occasionally you get lucky and birds will tolerate a close approach – this was one of those occasions.

Airborne!

Raptor numbers and diversity are good on the plains country at the moment – a typical one hour excursion producing perhaps 20 individuals representing 6-8 species.
